Strategy Wants to Pay Daily Dividends on STRC, STRF, STRK and STRD
Summary
- Strategy is asking shareholders to approve daily dividend record dates for STRC, STRD, STRF and STRK.
- The proposed change would increase the frequency of dividend payments without changing the regular dividend rates or increasing the total regular dividend obligations.
- Shareholders are expected to vote on the proposal at a special meeting on October 28, 2026.
Strategy is proposing another unusual change to the preferred stocks that sit alongside its massive Bitcoin treasury.
The company wants to move four of its U.S.-listed preferred securities to a daily dividend framework, with every calendar day serving as a dividend record date.
Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor posted an announcement on X describing the details:
The proposal covers STRC, STRF, STRK and STRD and represents another step in Strategy’s effort to build what it calls its “Digital Credit” platform.
Strategy’s board approved the proposal on September 24, 2026, and the company filed its preliminary proxy statement with the SEC on September 25.
Shareholder approval is still required.
Why Does Michael Saylor Want to Switch to Daily Dividend Payments?
Strategy wants to compete with Strive (NASDAQ: ASST) and its highly popular daily preferred dividend stock, SATA.
STRC pays biweekly dividends at the moment while SATA pays shareholders more often. It looks like an attempt to lure SATA shareholders away from Strive.
Daily Payments Would Not Mean Higher Dividends
The biggest point for investors is that daily dividends would not automatically mean more dividends.
Strategy says the amendments would not increase or decrease the regular dividend rates on STRC, STRF, STRK or STRD. They also would not increase the company’s total regular dividend obligations.
Instead, the proposal changes when the dividends are recorded and paid.
Under the proposed structure, every calendar day would become a dividend record date. If a dividend is declared for that day, it would be payable on the next business day.
That means weekends and holidays could still be record dates, while the actual cash payment would occur on the next business day.
The distinction is important: this is primarily a change in dividend cadence, not a promise of additional income.
STRC Would Move First
STRC would be the first Strategy preferred security to move to the new system.
If shareholders approve the proposal and the amended certificate becomes effective, Strategy expects the first daily STRC record date to be November 1, 2026, with the corresponding dividend payment expected on November 2.
STRF, STRK and STRD would transition later.
Their first daily record dates are expected to begin on January 1, 2027, with the related dividends payable on January 4, 2027.
Until then, the securities would continue operating under their existing schedules.
STRC currently pays on a semi-monthly basis, while STRF, STRK and STRD currently use quarterly schedules.
Strategy Is Building a Different Kind of Preferred Stock Market
The proposed change is part of a broader experiment by Strategy with preferred securities.
The company has described STRC, STRF, STRK and STRD as components of its Digital Credit platform, using different securities to provide investors with different combinations of income, credit characteristics and exposure within Strategy’s capital structure.
Dividend frequency is becoming an important part of that strategy.
STRC itself only recently moved from monthly to semi-monthly dividends. That change was approved by shareholders in June 2026, with Strategy saying the more frequent schedule was designed to improve liquidity, stabilize the trading price and increase demand for the security.
Now Strategy is proposing to take that concept to its logical extreme: daily dividend accrual and payment mechanics.
More frequent distributions could make accrued dividends easier for investors to account for when buying or selling shares between traditional payment dates.
Strategy says the proposed structure is intended to support liquidity, demand and price stability for its preferred securities.
Shareholders Still Have to Approve It
The change is not automatic.
Strategy’s special shareholder meeting is scheduled for October 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time, and will be held entirely online. Shareholders of record as of September 25 are entitled to vote.
If the proposal passes and the required amended certificates are filed and become effective, the daily dividend framework would begin with STRC in November and then expand to STRF, STRK and STRD in January.
For investors watching Strategy’s evolving capital structure, this is another significant development.
Strategy is best known for accumulating Bitcoin, but its financing strategy is becoming increasingly sophisticated as well.
If approved, daily dividends would make its preferred securities look even less like traditional quarterly-income investments and more like continuously accruing financial instruments designed for a digital-credit market.
